Numerical evaluation of the ductile fracture for AA6101-T4 and AISI 4340 alloys using the Lemaitre and Gurson models

This paper provides a numerical assessment of the ductile fracture AA6101 and AISI 4340 alloys using Lemaitre Gurson models.The simulations were carried out to verify evolution accumulated plastic strain at fracture, assuming high range triaxiality ratio, applying monotonic tensile loads on smooth notched cylindrical specimens. The strategy was structured for models, from establishing non-linear system equations an implicit integration algorithm solving equation Newton-Raphson method. When assessing experimental results, it observed that cumulative decreases with increasing levels ratio both models. On one hand, model more optimistic than results. other Gurson's proved be conservative in its prediction fracture. Regarding determining onset, general, models showed good predictive capacity. However, results aluminum alloy presented agreement data alloy. In end, determination level displacement has best performance. this sense, porous material can recommended describe mechanical behavior
